Captured this yesterday at my favorite Thai restaurant on the island, Haleiwa Eats. Rain in Hawaii ok. Lightning? WHAT?! Never happen. This was a rare treat and I’m incredibly stoked that I was able to capture this.
It rained supah dupah hard and the Christmas parade was so podunk awesome! Esp. the kickball league of like 7 people. Loved seeing a Christmas parade with so much Aloha, and rain, and candy.
I should teach you guys how to take lighting shots…

Now that is a cool pic of some lightning. Was this taken on your film camera or digital?
I love lightning! Great picture.
Took it with my digital. It was so fun to try to capture too…
I love the atmosphere. Is that lightning? Don’t you just love Haleiwa. My favorite place on the island.
very cool!!
Yup! Lightning! Haleiwa is touristy by I’m glad that I was able to see the locals finally get together and do something.
So good man. if i could have haleiwa eats and lightning i would be soooooo happy.
Is there anything going on in the white blob of lightning? If you play with the levels in Photoshop, there might be something that pops out if the whiteness is taken down a few steps.
Amazing!!
I did, its way to overexposed. This is the best exposure you can get and I actually did take it down a couple steps to get some of the streaks closer to the blog.
awesome pic. with all that lightning, it was the best parade i’ve ever seen!!
great pic – and the reference to the kickball team – any chance you have a pic of them? My son is on the team – I’m the mom in Oregon thanks
wow that’s awesome! All the way from Oregon I’m interested on how you came to find my site. And about the photo, I did get a pic but it was storming so hard I ran out and got a photo. I’ll look at it ‘em and send it to you!
Great capture! Love the color and all else that is going on.
Right place, right time, right attitude. Beautiful capture!
